This is a rebroadcast of the February 9, 2018 show when Dr. Ed interviewed historian Joyce Bennett, author of the book Maryland, My Maryland: The Cultural Cleansing of a Small Southern State.
They discuss Maryland’s culture, dialect and cuisine showing that Maryland is a culturally Southern state. Maryland’s attempted secession is also discussed.
The primary discussion centers around HB506 and HB606, pending legislation to “sanitize” or simply eliminate the state song of Maryland.
We are rebroadcasting this episode because the legislation is once again gaining traction.
This matter is very close to Dr. Ed’s heart, and as a result he shares some personal stories that normally he would not share in a personal interview.
This episode of TBR Radio Presents The Dixie Heritage was dedicated to the host’s late father-in-law.
