The Jan/Feb issue of The Barnes Review magazine features two articles by Dr. Ed. In today’s radio show he talks about one of the articles, whose subject, Lottie Moon, was a Confederate spy who, as a runaway bride, left Union General Ambrose Burnside at the marriage alter. After the war Lottie would spend four decades as a Southern Baptist missionary to China.
Dr. Ed explains how God used the War Between the States and Lottie’s service to the Confederacy as the crucible that made her the great missionary who forever changed the way Baptists did missionary work. He encourages Southern Baptists to stop apologizing for their history and heritage and, instead, to own and embrace it.
